A night of legendary rock ‘n rollers playing some legendary music. I got to do this in two parts, because despite me telling myself I wouldn’t take so many pictures (they’re a lot to go through!), I did and I got a lot of good ones. And I’m supposed to be packing for a trip right now, so I got to keep this quick. I’ll do Part 2 in a couple weeks.
Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders made it back to the Casbah for a Thursday night show opening up for the Hangmen. Perfect match, because Pat Todd & Bryan Small have a 40 year history of playing great raw rock ‘n roll music in not only the Los Angeles clubs, but all over the world. Pat Todd has more the “rock”, fast and hard, and Bryan Small has more of the “roll”, nice and sleazy.
For Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders, this was an unofficial album release for their new album, “I’ll Dream Alone”, as they had copies for sale. It doesn’t hit the streets for over a week. You can read my review of it here.
They killed it once again. Have they ever done a set that was not “great”? They played several songs off the new album, which went down very well. They had a good crowd. They’re already working on the next album and a possible live album. If I have a complaint, they blasted through their set so quickly, they could’ve easily had another 15 minutes to play. Anyways, they’re gearing up for an extensive European tour throughout October/November.

The Hangmen are also legendary. I’ve written about them before. They were phenomenal. You want to talk about a band that should be headlining Snap Dragon Stadium (hey, if their peers back in the day, Guns & Roses, could do it, why not the Hangmen?), but you’re having the honor of seeing them in a small club? That’s the Hangmen. Totally class act. They got the look, they got the stage presence, they got the kick ass energy, the crowd participation, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: they got the SONGS! They did a super long set (this being the first night of their tour and they want to make sure they got everything down) and I think they had Eddie Spagetti’s son play cowbell for a song. The talent must run in the family. And then Eddie Spaghetti (Supersuckers) himself came onstage to sing a song with his idols. The whole show was amazing. And we’re seeing them at the Casbah. Mind blown.
