When traveling (this was a family trip), we always slip in some sort of show into the plans. The Buzzcocks were playing in the area, so we drove to Connecticut during the rain to see them. They played the District Music Hall in Norwalk on Sept 25.
The Buzzcocks were GREAT and Steve Diggle made everyone feel like he was there for THEM! He fed off the crowd and the crowd fed off him. Very communal. Everyone was in great spirits and having a lot of fun. Their setlist was great. 23 songs. They played their biggest hit, “Orgasm Addict”, in the middle of the set and then played all their other hits before and after it. And then just played a lot of their deep cuts and early singles for the real fans. A lot of new songs from their new album (including a nice dedication to all those who lost their lives in 9/11) and I got to say, the new songs sounded really good and it’s certainly an album I’ll have to check out! I would have bought a signed copy at the merch booth, but didn’t have room to take it on the plane. After the set, Steve came up to everyone and basically shook their hands, talked to them (even inviting some backstage) and personally gave his thanks to everyone. Very cool. He spit a lot during the show. Had a bottle of champagne set up for him with a cup which he drank from and spit out a few times. Of course I missed taking a shot of that every time. Oh well.
They were great, as I said, and are still on tour. Highly recommended. Here’s the best of my pictures.
