About Me

I’m known by many names, depending on who you talk to. Drunk Ted via Flipside (1992-2000). Hella Ted via KSDT radio (1986-1991). Heavy Metal Ted via Rocket From The Crypt. Terrible Ted via old friends. My first nickname was Teddy Vicious, named after Sid Vicious. I didn’t even know who the Sex Pistols were at the time of that nickname, but some people at the summer camp I was at decided it fit me for whatever reason.

My resume is two-fold based on a lifetime of music.

1986-1991: ran the Metal Til Midnight radio show, later called Weak Poser Feeble Rock, on KSDT on the campus of Univ Of CA, San Diego. I also was program director from 1988-1989. KSDT was on the air on the campus of UCSD, but also streaming (before streaming was cool) via Cox and Time Warner cable stations, reaching all of San Diego County.

The show featured new metal, older metal, a half hour of demos every show. In addition to the metal show, I also did one hour of alternative and punk music before the metal show. The following are a list of some of the bands I have interviewed: The Accused, ALL, Annihilator, Anthrax, Celtic Frost, Coroner, Corrosion Of Conformity, Death Angel (two or three times), Dr Know, Fates Warning, Flostsam & Jetsam, The Fluid (two times?), G.B.H., Goo Goo Dolls, Hirax, Piranha (Paul Baloff), Megadeth (three times), Metallica (Jason Newsted, three times), Soul Asylum (twice), Wendy O. Williams, Voivod and many others.

From 1992-2000, I wrote for Flipside Fanzine. I was one of two people named “Ted” there, the other not really contributing much after 1992, but Ronnie from the Muffs named me “Drunk Ted” and the name stuck. So anything listed under that name, is me. I contributed a column based on the San Diego Scene which was later changed to “Inebri-a-Ted”, interviews, show reviews and album reviews.

From 1996-2000, I had a record label by the name of “Scam-O-Rama Records”. Dumbest name ever, which I will get into later. I put out releases from The Dragons, Uncle Joe’s Big ‘Ol Driver, and Steve Poltz.

This blog is to tell the stories about all of the above.
