After partying it up all afternoon, we made it out to the Tower Bar to continue. Kind of tired and had no business going out again for more, but we had to ROCK. And so did Fever Dog, Cinema Stereo, and Saguaro.
You’ve heard of Saguaro before if you’ve been reading this blog. Super young. Super talented. I describe them as a mishmash of Deep Purple, The Faces, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just pure old school rock. I get the feeling that they have a lot to learn. And that’s not a bad thing, as I’m probably twice their ages and am still learning. Solid rock, good energy and a ton of talent to spare. Henry is a wailing genius on guitar, and it was really cool to see him compare notes with the guitarists in the other bands throughout the night. They need to get their album out and go out on tour!

Speaking of which, Cinema Stereo attacked the small divey Tower Bar as if they were headlining the Sports Arena. They’re a rock band from Nashville and I think they have been around a few years. Great presence and kick ass songs. Musically I would say they’re like KISS meets Cheap Trick meets a little more alternative rock. I remember seeing Nirvana at the Casbah back in 1990 and thought it was so weird the Kurt Cobain did a guitar solo on the ledge by the side of the stage. A guitar solo? In a club? Odd. But it worked. Well, Cinema Stereo had a full on drum solo and yeah, it was just like a headlining arena show. Including the band introductions. In a small club. Something different that you don’t see every day and it made you feel like you were seeing something special. They got a new album to come out later this year in October.

If Cinema Stereo played as if they were headlining the Sports Arena, Fever Dog played as if they were headlining Wembley Stadium! Full on high energy rock spectacle. We’re talking matching outfits, band introductions, a drum solo and a guitar solo too! Not to mention some long jams, and a final bow to cap it all off. I guess they had to have played 45 minutes to an hour, but it felt like 10 minutes, as time flies when you’re having fun. And they were definitely fun. And rockin’. They worked up a good sweat. If I had to compare them to some bands, I’d say that they’re like the Hellacopters meets Sweet. An odd combination, but it works and that’s a hard combination to beat! They got an album out on bandcamp, and the new single sounds even better!
