I finally got a chance to see Mistress 77 open up for the Schizophonics for a sold out show at the Casbah on April 13.
They did not disappoint! They were everything I was hoping and expecting them to be: hard hitting, loud, energetic, fun punk rock. With some twists, including background singers, some choice cover songs, and guitarist Tony’s ankle. Yeah, Tony took a bad spill jumping around and didn’t notice he twisted his ankle until the next day. Cover song surprises were “Know Your Product” by the Saints and “Alternative Ulster” by Stiff Little Fingers. The rest of the songs were from their excellent debut album, reviewed here.
