Show Review: Zeke at the Casbah May 29, 2024

Zeke played the Casbah in San Diego on Wednesday May 29, opening for The Cosmic Psychos. It’s been 20 years since I’ve seen Zeke and while they have changed band members here and there, they haven’t missed a beat. Full on full steam ahead throttling punk rock for 45 minutes. No stops for in between song banter or audience participation. It just goes to show that they are literally athletes. How can they keep that pace drumming, strumming, and singing for 45 minutes straight?!? The only real break in between songs was when singer/guitarist Blind Marky Felchtone did a few guitar solos while other band members had to quickly tune up. Really talented guy. I would like to see maybe a slower side project or something where Blind Marky could really show off his guitarist abilities. And they threw in their cover of KISS “Shout It Out Loud” played at a breakneck speed. I left the front of the stage halfway through the set because 1) I had to pee, 2) I had to get some beer, 3) the bassist kept coming onto the front of the stage and was swinging his bass around so much, that I almost got hit a few times. So that was enough for me. But I got some good pictures, so here you go! On the way back to the car, a violent but jovial old punk rocker told my wife he liked her style.
