Swami John Reis – “Time To Let You Down”

Swami John Reis – “Time To Let You Down”

I don’t know how he does it, but when John Reis gets in the “zone”, there’s no stopping him. He’s a songwriting machine. And it’s not just a couple guitar riffs strung together. Remember, he comes up with lyrics for all these songs too! No idea how he does this. I certainly couldn’t. There’s just not that much I can even think of writing about. John? He just keeps writing and writing and writing. How many songs has he written and released? A couple hundred? And mostly pretty good quality too!
Well here’s another 11 of them. And no, these are NOT leftovers from the last album “All Of This Awaits You”. These are NEW songs that were recorded just last October. This isn’t even the Bed Of Nails, except for Joey Guevara on the keyboards. John’s also recruited Jason from Hot Snakes and Glen from Truman’s Water for this project.

The songs are just like you’d expect: Catchy, fast, hard hitting with John Reis’ signature vocals.  Before you know it, the album’s over and it’s time to put it on repeat (and this is a little bit longer than “All Of This Awaits You”). I liked to describe Bed Of Nails as Rocket From The Crypt minus the horn section, but with keyboards. But don’t let the keyboards scare you! They’re low in the mix and only prominent when needed. Guitars are full and upfront, as they always should be. This project is along those same lines, but faster and more hard hitting. More punk rock.
