The Apemen came all the way from Germany to play Southern California. They were opening up for Mohama Saz at the Casbah this time. Not only was this the 3rd time I’ve seen Mohama Saz, it was the third time I saw the Apemen. IN ONE WEEK! Yes, they were that good! They made the most of their time in Southern CA, playing Tiki Oasis, Oceanside, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and the Casbah, with even a stint at the Ould Sod doing some karaoke!
They’re not to be confused with the instrumental “Apemen” from the Netherlands. These guys are from Germany, more mod, and sound like what you’d get if you crossed the Who with the Sonics. Wild raw guitars with lots of jumping around. Great guys and I hope to see them again!
