Show Review: Giuda, Lower Class Brats, & Menstrual Tramps at Casbah July 24, 2025

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Casbah after going to Comic-Con. I think the last time was in 1994 to see the Melvins. Comic-Con is pretty exhausting. Imagine being in a mosh pit with 150,000 people in it. There is no escape. And this mosh pit lasts for 4 days and 1 evening. So yeah, it takes a big effort to go out to a show after even one day of this. But what better band to make me go out after a big day at Comic-Con than Giuda!

Menstrual Tramps started the night off. They were a full on blast of punk. Yet something was kind of thrash metal about them. Maybe it was all the mosh parts. They kind of reminded me of Nuclear Assault. Maybe Nuclear Assault crossed with DRI or Discharge. I liked them.
To all my punk friends who refuse to listen to anything to come out in the past 30 years, I present to you the Lower Class Brats. I saw them before opening for The Adicts at the Observatory a few months ago and was pretty impressed. But seeing a band at the Casbah is so much better. More intimate. Lower Class Brats are totally amazing. Great songs. Great sound. They’re full on punk rock. Emphasis on PUNK and emphasis on ROCK.
And then there’s Giuda. It is my hope that one of these days everyone here will be bragging about how they saw Giuda play the Casbah. I like to describe them as AC/DC meets Slade. They’re not inventing anything new, but this band could be, and SHOULD BE, superstars. Totally intense and know how to bring the rock and the fun and the intensity. They got it all, they bring it all, and they give it all.
