Show Review: Giuda at the Casbah Aug 25th, 2024

There’s been a big new REAL glam revival going on for awhile now and Giuda has been at the forefront for the past 17 years. I’m not talking “glam” like Cinderella or Poison. I’m talking Mud, The Sweet, and Slade. Their website describes them the best: “Giuda is a five-piece band that play an air-punching mix of anthemic ‘70s rock hooks delivered with the brutal force of early UK punk all interpreted in a contemporary and original way with relevance for today’s discerning listener.”

They came all the way from Rome, Italy, so when I saw they were playing the Casbah on Sunday Aug 25th, I knew I had to go. It didn’t hurt having some other great bands on the bill, namely Soulseller and Hammered Satin.

It’s been said that a band is only as good as their drummer, but DAMN! From that first beat from the kick drum until something like 30 songs later (they had a long setlist), they just didn’t let up! It was like Phil Rudd pounding away for 80+ minutes with blazing guitars, and topped with an energetic frontman/singer. The songs were high powered authentic glam influenced (again, like Mud or Suzi Quatro) crossed with maybe like AC/DC. They drew a great crowd and people were actually dancing in the aisle of the Casbah, which is not something you normally see. Amazing.
Here’s some video that Luis Torres took:
