Show Review: Nico Bones pays tribute to Slade on Oct 22, 2024

So there was a special little show set up by Nico Bones at “Good Times At Davey Waynes” up in Hollywood on October 22, 2024. I actually had to be in town for something (you will definitely hear about this in the future!), and there was no way I was going to miss this. I have no problem with tribute bands, cover bands, or bands doing covers of songs. If I like the music, I want to hear it live, loud, and raw. On this night all was delivered when Nico Bones did a tribute to Slade, and The Junkys did a tribute to the Velvet Underground.

I met Nico Bones for the first time last week at the Supply & Demand show when Rockfile played. Total rock ‘n roll. He lives and breathes it. Great stage presence. Great charisma. Knows how to play. And on this night he and his band did a great rockin’ set of Slade songs. A GREAT set of Slade songs. BUT… same problem I had with him last time I saw him: too short! They did about only 6 songs, which I think was all they knew with his backup band. But I’ll take it. You always to want to leave the audience wanting more. And I wanted MORE! Great sound. Everything about this was great. They should record some of these and put them out as bonus versions for the next album or something.

Here’s a little clip of “Gudbuy T’ Jane” (note that my phone does not capture sound all that well, but it is what it is and you can get the gist of what the set was about from this):

And some pictures:
