Album Review: Muck & The Mires “Beat Revolution”

Album Review: Muck & The Mires “Beat Revolution”
Boston has always had a high quality full on rock scene. And right at the front of it throughout the years has been Evan Shore, aka “Muck”. He’s been in the Voodoo Dolls, The Nines, and even the Queers, playing on the “Grow Up” album. And of course Muck & The Mires, which has been going on the longest for 25 years now, appearing on dozens of singles and compilation tracks and at least 8 albums.

Their latest is “Beat Revolution” and is a great summation of what they’re all about. Compared as “the Beatles meets the Ramones” and I can’t really think of a better description than that. Rockin’ garagy punk ‘n roll with some crafty songwriting and great chops. Yeah, many people can play their instruments well, but it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t write a song. And Muck can write a song! Too many highlights to mention (just get the album!), but here’s a couple of my favorites. Too bad Dawn Wells isn’t still around. She would’ve loved “Mary Ann Man”.
